Shine has new eyes!! So after me whining about needing more eyes Brandy finally gave in and starting working on a new set. The results are some of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen in sl. The Silent Lucidity set is a beautiful mix of soft colors and reflection. There are ten eyes in the set, so your sure to find something to your taste, also there is a stunning pair of free eyes in the store as well so you can test drive the style of the eyes and Brandy still sells the rest of the set for the insanely low price of 50L a pair or you can get all ten for 350L and they are worth every bit of it.

You can see the detail in the pic below (and you will probably notice the large shot, they are my favorite pair Soleil, they are amazing). Also Gasoline (a beautiful hazel green/brown) Ice(piercing blue) and Aurora(pale grey/blue with sparks of colors) are in my heavy rotation list.

I think all of us have those SL designers that we can name who just seem to exist on their own level of creativity and magic and/or designers who make us smile because their creations have been a part of so many of our happy moments. For me, Evangeline Miles of Evie’s Closet falls into both categories. Her dresses are wearable art that swish and twirl perfectly as you dance whether you’re dancing with someone special or simply dancing by yourself in a fit of joy, and I always feel gorgeous wearing her creations. Imagine my utter delight when Evie bought the Shine Enchanted set and told me that she was pairing it with her newest release in some of her vendor photos, and then she was kind enough to invite me to set up a vendor next to the Isabella release at her main shop.

Below you can see the vendor set-up just before Evie officially released the Isabella collection, so just ignore the “Coming Soon” and fly over to Evie’s Closet right now to grab one or both of the available options. Evie’s most recent releases have been so versatile with the various add-ons she creates for them. With a switch of attachments, you can easily go from being a princess to attending a tea party with a break in between for flitting about as a fairy. And there’s so much packed with Isabella with the wings, hair, and shoes in addition to the dress styles and stockings.

It’s so easy to forget how to just be in SL. We start out having so much fun with our dancing and designing and socializing, and then some of us fixate on adding so many responsibilities that it all just becomes another job and we lose that sense of “anything is possible” that made us fall in love with it in the first place. With that in mind, I’d like to thank Evie for creating a release that reminded me of my love of wings and had me throwing on a fairy AO and flying around the beautiful Oubliette sim just enjoying it and taking some photos, and then when I went back to the workshop, I couldn’t help but dance as I worked. I hope all of you take the time to stop and smell the flowers.

Last night I put my newest jewelry release up in Shine, and I decided I’d take a stab at blogging my own new release for a change. Kavar usually ends up doing mine for me just like I usually do his release posts for him. It’s kind of handy that way because it just seems so much easier to talk about someone else’s work for some reason. To help me ease into this, I’m also going to highlight a couple of recent favorites from other designers along with my own new release.

Enchanted is a silver and pastel floral set based on an unique flower sculpt that I created and textured in ZBrush, and then I applied some pastel tints in Photoshop to get the 5 color options – blue, orange, pink, purple, and red – shown in the image below. The idea originated with a memory of some ceramic roses and lilies that my grandmother collected and kind of took on a life of its own.

OK, enough about me! Let’s move on to two of my favorite recent purchases – the Fluorite Tree Corset from Schadenfreude and the I’m Not Cute pose set from Lazy Places. I don’t think I’ve taken the corset off since I bought it. I’ve worn it with jeans, dressy trousers, leather pants, and a few skirts, and I just keep falling a little more in love with it. Purple and green together is one of my favorite color combinations, and this is a lovely deep shade of both colors. The swirled design of tree branches and roots is bold on some parts of the corset and subtle in others, lending a sort of shimmer to the cloth.

While SakuraDawn named this pose set “I’m Not Cute!”, it’s the equivalent of an adorable 3-year-old with her hands on her hips emphatically telling you “I’m not cute!” because these poses are cute no matter what they’re named. That’s to be expected though since Sakura herself is cute beyond words no matter how she might try to deny it. The poses at Lazy Places are among some of my favorites because they tend to be a bit whimsical while still very well made in that your body isn’t broken into a million pieces by them and because the majority of them fit my larger-than-average shape. I can’t begin to describe what a joy it is to be able to buy a whole set of poses at once rather than having to pick and choose the ones that fit. Anything that enables me to shop faster and more easily is a plus in my book!

Lazy Places recently moved to the new Katat0nik sim, so if you haven’t been there in a while, you really need to go check out the new store and take a look at all the new releases from poses to creative accessories like talking cupcakes that sit on your head. It’s a great site for photos too as Sakura has placed several of her poses around the shop, and if you’re a 7 Seas fishing fanatic, you have to spend some time there with your fishing rod. I really need to collect all of the lip piercings and Baitlyn, one day you shall be mine!

Two new hairs available, Courtney on the left, longer and flowing over the shoulder style and Kelly on the right a mid length layered cut with lots of soft strands framing the face.

And two new sets at Shine. Gothica on the right is a heavy steel set with inlaid gems. It has a hard romantic feel and includes two necklace options , a bracelet and the gems are scripted with a color changing script. And on the right the Gilded lily set, which is a beautiful soft set with two necklace options, earrings and a bracelet, the Gilded Lily set really invokes an antique and classically soft look.

So Covet is finally open and and I finally get a chance to blog about Shine. Shine is the brand that Brandy Rasmuson Started around a year ago. She began with eyes. And I watched her get better and better. She talk about making jewelry one day as well and after some chatting and weeks passing I got a great necklace for my rezday months ago, that she had be holding out of me for months with lol. Time passes again, and I can tell shes really interested in it. So for her birthday I made her something in zbrush, and the second part of that gift was I was going to teach her how I made it. And before you know it a few msn tutorials and questions here and there and shes cranking out her own sculpts with her own burned textures. Which brings me to the post again, sorry if I’m long winded, its just that weird feeling you get when your really proud to be someones friend after the have accomplished a personal goal they really wanted to achieve. So this post is about Shine, now in its own beautiful store on Covet next to Exile.

For the post I will be gender bending, I tried to look the part And I chose some stuff from a few stores I know Brandy is a fan of, and I like them too heh.

First up is the Geo set. Its a bold chunky jewelry set. The necklace in the pics is one of two include in the set, the other being a choker. In addition to making the sculpts and textures herself, Brandy also wrote a color change script for the gems in Geo, so you get the choice of 5 tints and the original silver texture making 6 options. The eyes are also by Shine, The Covet series the color is Willow which is a hazel brown/green mix. I chose to turn up the attitude and go to Artilleri where I found Antonia’s ah bella top in tropical yellow and the green betsy pants. I grabbed Antonia’s Rina hair in choco as well. You can see the yellow again on the shoes, courtesy of Juicy , the classic pumps in lemon. Also the skin is from Curio-:GP: Sundust [Dark] Vixen-Mink 1 , and its beautiful of course.. I wonder how much bribery it would take to get gala to try a male skin… hmmm.. something to ponder later.

Jewelry and eyes- Shine

Clothing and Hair- Artilleri

Shoes- Juicy

Skin- Curio

Next is the Harvest set by Shine. This is a warm copper set with a teardrop pendant, adorned wrist cuff and design engraved ring. The textures are amazing on it and while it looks very earthy I think it works in a black tie setting as well, so I went to Slink this time to pick up a slinky black dress, the satin bodice cocktail dress in black. I also chose to wear Siddean’s Ashley hair in brown and its lovely. The eyes are from Shine’s Covet series again, one of my personal favorites called Flannel, a gold color that blends into a grayish dark blue. The shoe hook up again comes from Juicy classic pumps, this time in blackberry. And the skin is Gala’s vixen in mink again as well.

Jewelry and eyes- Shine

Clothing and hair- Slink

Shoes- Juicy

Skin- Curio

The last set I will show here is the Juilet set by Shine. There is something really timeless and elegant about this one. Soft silver rings make up the set with a subtle placement of diamonds to give it some sparkle. The set comes with two sets of earrings to chose from, the Ornate ones I have on in the pics and a more simple drop version. The eyes are from Shine again, a pretty mixed of greys and muted purples called Covet Antique. The clothing is from Silent Sparrow, one of Brandy’s all time favorite stores for Hya’s beautiful hand drawn textures, this time taking the form of the nephilim set in black and red. The skin is another one by Curio- the Moonbeam tone with the pinup face- I think the makeup is pure, but I bought the fat pack after deciding to make a Pinup/betty/dita model and now I’m not positive.. at any rate they are all beautiful. I hope the pictures look ok.. I was kind of rushing by this point as I’m pretty sure I was sitting in someones house, as a woman, dressed in a corset and panties and I was trying to think of what I would say should they walk in lol.

Jewelry and eyes- Shine

Clothing- Silent Sparrow

Skin- Curio

hair- Exile

So that is a little taste of Shine. Be sure to stop by Covet and check it out, Everything is really lovely and unique, there are men’s jewelry items too which I will get to later in the week and everything is very affordable due to Brandy being very generous or extremely crazy, either way you win hehe. Hope it was interesting to read

Until next time… Shine!

Shine, Brandy Rasmuson’s brand of eyes and soon to be accessories and Treads, Ju Weissnicht’s Brand of shoes. Since I’m falling down on the job blogging their releases I decided to actually try to make a nice looking blog post with bloggy pics for it (Read: Kavar pretends to be a blogger).

First up Brandy’s Exquisite new eyes. The Cathedral Series is a great example of Brandy’s evolving style. Every series is different and more polished then the one before. These take their name from their glassy appearance, much like stain glass windows you would find in a Cathedral. You can see the details come to life when you zoom in on them, almost like bubbling heated glass they kind of glimmer over the reflections and light depth in the textures. Available in ten stunning colors there is sure to be something for every one’s taste. Best of all Brandy sells each color for only 50L, so they are not only beautiful but affordable for even those on a strict budget. If your looking for just the right eyes or your an eye collector be sure to check out this new set in the store and also available on Xstreetsl here. They look fantastic on and I can’t imagine a better deal for beautiful eyes.

Next is Ju Weissnicht’s K boots under the brand name Treads. These boots just scream “I’m going to kick your ass”. They are something a lot of us have in our real life closets as well. The textures are amazing, they fit brilliantly and they come in 5 sizes for easy fitting for men or women and are available in brown or black. You owe it to yourself to try out the demo at least, its one shoe purchase I assure that you won’t regret. I personally haven’t taken them off since I got them, and I’m starting to think someone might have to pry them from my cold dead hands to get me to put something else on my feet. You can find these in world at the store and also available on Xstreetsl here.

This is just a taste of these brands. Keep your eyes open for more great things from them in the future.
