Brandy by Achariya

The lovely Achariya, the one who began the Dress Me Up challenge, gets to dress me up in this post. She suggested, “I’d love to see you do elf — like with Schadenfreude’s Thistle Tenno skin and pointy ears (I think the skin color is light purple), and then a medieval look from Evie’s closet. This might be expensive, though! For a cheaper option, elven ears from Illusions and a medieval dress from miriel’s.” When I read that, I may have actually shouted for joy because that was just the excuse I’d been waiting for to buy some elf ears! I’ve been staring at cute elf ears in shops for the longest time, but for some reason, I just couldn’t get myself to buy any of them until now.

I went back to several places in my quest for the perfect elf ears for me, and I ended up exactly where I suspected I might. Illusions had the selection of shapes, sizes, and piercings that seemed to call to me the most, and I eventually decided on the elfin ear shape with the mystic piercings style. Then I needed to decide what skin I thought I’d wear the most with the ears to help me choose between the various skin tone options, and I decided to return to a pink and pale gray skin named Glitter Goth that lends a bit of otherworldly magic to any look. I picked up the natural skin tones pack so that I could tint the lightest shade to the gray I wanted. The tinting took a bit longer than I expected because I’m a perfectionist, but I finally got close enough for me. Siyu Suen, the owner of Illusions, actually offers a custom color matching service for a small fee if you find that you can’t get close to your preferred tone, which I think is a really nice touch.

While at Illusions, I was reminded of the Amirah headpiece, and it insisted on becoming part of my inventory as well. Then it was time to go dress shopping! I went straight to Evie’s Closet as Achariya suggested because it’s been quite a while since I purchased anything there, and I knew I’d find a wealth of choices. The other dresses didn’t have a chance though once I spotted the Caterina gown in Snow. Perfection!

Evie’s Closet is located on the Oubliette sim now along with Balderdash and Winx Home & Garden, and in addition to the great shopping, Oubliette is set up for lovely wintry photos. Both of my photos in this post were taken there, and I know I’ll be back for more photos in the future. Thanks so much to Achariya for dressing me, and my elf side will probably come out to play again soon because I’m in love with these ears!

Brandy by Phire

Phire suggested “some bustle butted victorian era dress” for me in the Dress Me Up challenge, and it was a walk down memory lane in more ways than one. When I first came to SL, I spent a lot of my time exploring and shopping in Caledon. In fact I had so much fun thinking back to my early days of wandering that I couldn’t decide on just one dress to show here. The first dress is an updated one by Ivalde, and Neferia is generously trading a new version of the dress to those who send her their old versions. The Dorothea dress has multiple attachments to create that bustle and flare look, and it moves beautifully. I accessorized both of the dresses with some cameo jewelry from my inventory because I love a good cameo.

The second dress, the Lady Gambler by Silver Dollar, is one of the first dresses that caught my eye in Caledon. As the name would suggest, it reminds me a bit of Annabelle Bransford, Jodie Foster’s character in the movie Maverick. The blend of colors is subtle and gorgeous, and the little details like the tied lace around the neck in the front and the opening in the back with more lace make this a dress I still find just as beautiful as I ever did.

Dress Me Up Challenge – Brandy

Achariya issued a Dress Me Up Challenge to get us in some different looks and change things up a bit. I wanted to play along because I’m excited to see what you guys come up with for me! It’s always fun to try something different.

Rules:
1. Post a picture of yourself in your underpants.
2. In this post, invite your readers to suggest a particular outfit (or jewelry, shoes, skin, etc.) from a designer for you to purchase and write about.
3. In the next few weeks, look back over the suggestion list and incorporate these ideas into your regular blogging, marking these entries with the tag “dress me up.” Post in as many or few suggestions as you want. It’s up to the blogger’s discretion to pick which items to wear, so no complaining if they don’t pick your idea. :D
