Happy Holly Days!

Are any of you still looking for that perfect hair for a holiday party? Something festive and a bit glam but still soft and feminine? Exile’s new release Holly is one you’ll want to demo then. Holly is a gorgeous updo made of layered knots all held in place by sprigs of holly. You’ll definitely turn some heads wearing this.

And there’s more to Holly than you might realize at first glance. Don’t think this is a hairstyle you’ll only be able to wear a few days a year. Simply click a sprig of holly to make all of the holly disappear, and then you have an updo that is great for any special occasion all year long. Stop by Exile today to see Holly for yourself.

Brandy by Yuvi

Yuvi suggested a few things for me as part of the Dress Me Up challenge. “I think you would like some tops from Twosome. They have great drawn-in details like in your leotard there. Shoes from ETD because they are so affordable right now (Starley Pumps?). How about a girly skirt from Tree of SL or BP*?” First I just have to say thanks for making me finally go to Twosome! I’d heard of them a while ago and even passed by the shop at least once, but I’d never shopped there, and I walked away with some great hand drawn tops that are really cheap and also come on every possible clothing layer. They had other items as well like socks and leggings, but it was the tops that really grabbed me on this trip.

I also needed the reminder to stop by ETD before the big sale ends on Dec. 26. I’d totally forgotten that I hadn’t shopped the sale there yet and walked away with several huge packs of clothing and shoes. I decided to pair the Heather boots with this instead of going with pumps. The boots just seemed to keep everything a little more casual, which I liked. This outfit reminds me of the kind of thing I wore to parent meetings back when I was a preschool teacher in real life.

And can you believe that as many times as I’ve been to BP* and have bought furniture and decorative items there, I’ve never ever bought clothing there? This time, however, I went there on a mission to get a cute skirt, and I think this pink patterned one works so well with the Twosome tops I layered. Thank you very much Yuvi for getting me out to some places I’ve overlooked!

a few of my favorite things

Illicit by Exile

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad.

When Kavar mentioned he was going to write a post highlighting some of his favorite items in SL, I thought it seemed like a great idea and decided to copy him by doing one of my own. I’d actually love to see more people do this as a meme on the fashion blogs. Give your favorite designers some holiday love, and help the rest of us with our holiday shopping at the same time!

The first thing I noticed after going through Kavar’s post was how much overlap we had in our favorites though I guess it’s no surprise really because we do so much of our shopping together. My first pick is one that wasn’t on his list, but it’s because it’s his hair. Yeah, I know, this is the Exile blog, and his hair is always spotlighted here, but I absolutely can’t have a post about favorites and not mention Exile. Illicit was the first Exile hairstyle I ever saw, and it quickly became a favorite along with the great black texture he had even back then. Now it’s a year later, and there are so many great textures, and each new hair becomes my favorite until the next new hair is created, but Illicit will always have a special place in my heart because it was my first and because it led me to my best friend.

Read on after the cut to see more of the favorites in my inventory.
